Chris Miles, Practice Principal
Chris trained in Bristol and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979. He was granted a practising certificate in 1980. During this time he worked in a number of accountancy firms in Bristol.
He founded the practice in Portishead in 1981, starting out by working from home. As the firm expanded, he purchased offices in West Hill, Portishead where he has built up a team of staff to meet the needs of a growing practice.
Having spent all his working life in private practice he has developed a wide range of experience which has equipped him to head our team and identify and meet the needs of the clients we serve.
Chris has also worked with a number of charities, is very involved with his local church and in 2006 was appointed a UK Ambassador for SAT-7. When time permits, he can be spotted paddling a yellow canoe off the coast of West Wales!

Kate Clifford, Senior Portfolio Manager
Kate joined MILES cmc in 2011 and manages a portfolio of clients. She qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1998. In 2010, she moved to Portishead from Sheffield where she had been working in private practice for 15 years. Kate enjoys being by the sea and is currently learning to sail. When landside, she can often be found chasing her puppy round the local countryside.

Linda Thomas, Personal Taxation Manager
Linda joined MILES cmc in 2007 and manages the Personal Taxation Department. She has 31 years of experience in Personal taxation matters, of which the first 6 years were spent working for H M Revenue and Customs. Having seen many tax changes throughout the years her knowledge in this area is extensive.

Simon Websper, Client Bureau Services Manager
Simon joined MILES cmc in 2001 and heads up our client bureau services covering Payroll and VAT administration along with other aspects of clients’ accounting records.
He has over 25 years of experience covering both private practice and the commercial sector, prior to which he spent 5 years working for H M Revenue and Customs.

Michelle Hallett, Client Systems Manager
Michelle joined MILES cmc in 2008 and is responsible for client accounting systems advice and training, particularly in the area of SAGE Accounts. She obtained her AAT qualification over 14 years ago and has considerable experience in both private practice and the commercial sector.

Maxine Gillard, Accounts Portfolio Manager
Maxine joined MILES cmc in 2008 and she manages a portfolio of clients and provides valued IRIS accounting support to the practice. She is also responsible for Company Secretarial services for our corporate clients. Maxine is AAT qualified and has 5 years experience in private practice.
She took a year out to tour Australia in 2007 and her interests include travelling, music and badminton.

Paddy Miles, Practice Receptionist & Secretary
Paddy joined MILES cmc in 1981 as PA to Chris (her husband), subsequently taking on the role of Practice Receptionist & Secretary with additional responsibilities for purchasing and record archiving.
She has 26 years of experience in private practice prior to which she was a junior school teacher.

Carolyn Watson, Practice Accounts Administrator
Carolyn joined MILES cmc in 1991 as Accounts Assistant, being promoted to the role of Accounts Senior and subsequently taking on the administration of the firm’s own accounts.
She has 20 years of experience in private practice.
